Nothing worse than owning a Xbox 360 and not being able to play your favorite game. Are you one of the many unfortunate XBOXers receiving the dreaded XBOX "Red Ring of Death" error?

First of all if your Xbox is still under warranty take it back to the store for repair, Do not open it as this will void your warranty. If it is out of warranty then go ahead and repair it yourself.

About 5% of Xbox 360s that receive this error cannot be repaired. This means that you have a very good chance of saving your Xbox 360 console! Repair may require a few items from your local Radio Shack or hardware store. Chances are you already have these items. You may need a soldering iron and solder.

My xbox 360 is not reading the disks at first it started freezing up now it will not work at all. What should I do?

Make sure your disks are clean and not scratched up. Remove your DVD drive and take the cover off. Clean the lens and re-assemble.

If it still will not work you will have to replace either the pick up assembly or the entire drive.

I have had good luck by just cleaning the lens.

Hey my xbox 360 is acting up, when i put a disc into the tray it will be saying "reading disc" then suddenly it'll say "open tray". So should i clean the lens with rubbing alcohol?

Yes, try cleaning the lens also make sure your discs are clean

If it still has the same problem you will probably have to replace you pick up or the entire DVD unit.

Hey Homer, I have two questions. My dvd drive is not reading any games and I'm thinking of replacing my dvd drive. My question is; does your guide cover replacing the dvd drive? I've also heard about a certain key unique to each system. Does your guide cover this as well?

Here is a great tip for anyone changing there DVD drive.

Some replacement drives need to be flashed for them to work properly.

Instead, buy a new drive and take the old circuit board and switch with the new one.

Now you have your DVD key with a new drive1
